FRAME:" Knowledge sharing for the natural resource community"
FRAME is a USAID-funded program to build knowledge-sharing networks of natural resource professionals. The FRAME website is an excellent source of information related to natural resources management (NRM).

IUCN Red List of Threatened Species
IUCN's Species Survival Commission (SSC) is committed to providing the world with the most objective, scientifically-based information on the current status of globally threatened biodiversity. The Red List provides taxonomic, conservation status and distribution information on taxa that have been globally evaluated using the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria.
Millennium Ecosystem Assessment
An international work program designed to meet the needs of decision makers and the public for scientific information concerning the consequences of ecosystem change for human well-being and options for responding to those changes. The MA was launched by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan in June 2001 and was completed in March 2005.
UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG)
The MDGs form a blueprint agreed to by all the world’s countries and all the world’s leading development institutions to meet the needs of the world’s poorest people. MDG 7 relates directly to the need for sustainable development principles to be integrated into this global effort.

Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs)

The Rio Conventions
The following three United Nations treaties were adopted at the 1992 "Rio Earth Summit":

Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)
Entered into force on 29 December 1993. The three goals of the CBD are to promote the conservation of biodiversity, the sustainable use of its components, and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources.
Convention to Combat Desertification
Entered into force on 26 December 1996.
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Kyoto Protocol
Sets general goals and rules for confronting climate change. It aims to prevent "dangerous" human interference with the climate system." Joined by 189 countries.

Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES)
CITES was drafted as a result of a resolution adopted in 1963 at a meeting of members of IUCN, and came into force on 1 July 1975. It aims to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival.
